Brooklyn Gallery

Brooklyn Gallery is promising to be another great success

The exhibition will take place from the 25th to the 27th November 2011.
The final tally is 67 works of art for sale by artists from the Halifax Art Society (HAS).

Brooklyn Studios opened for the first time in July 2009 as part of the Hebden Bridge Open Studios.  In the time since then they have become known as the 'friendly studios' and have welcomed many hundreds of visitors through their bright red door.

In addition to their studios they have a fabulous new gallery and workshop space where they regularly exhibit and run workshops throughout the year.  The space is also available for hire for exhibitions, workshops or similar events.

If you would like further details about courses, space for hire or their Associate Membership scheme please get in touch.

9th July to 4th September 2011

Halifax Art Society's annual exhibition and sale of original paintings will be held in the Piece Hall again this year.  The date of the opening has been brought forward to the 9th July to coincide with the Halifax Festival.

The Halifax Art Centre and Gallery is situated in the Piece Hall, a historic Cloth Hall built in 1770.  The space is constructed from a series of original units, creating an intimate yet warm and inviting succession of inter-linking gallery spaces.

The gallery is open every day between 10:00 and 17:00 with free admission.

Successful exhibition at Harveys of Halifax

posted 10 Apr 2011 15:38 by web admin

Through February and March, twenty-five of our members exhibited work in the 'Simply Home' department of Harveys of Halifax.  A total of 130 entries were submitted in a variety of media on a range of subjects and hung in the lower-floor space and several of the display windows.

Many hours were spent labelling and hanging pictures as well as distributing flyers throughout the store to publicise the event.

A rota of volunteers were on-hand during the day to talk to visitors and even produce some artwork in the store.  As well as handling sales, our volunteers found the public interest in the exhibition to be very rewarding.
This superb effort from everyone involved led to an impressive 29 pictures being sold.

Unfortunately our planned talk by Robert Donald has had to be cancelled.  Our President Paul Talbot-Greaves will be giving a demonstration on winter landscapes in watercolour instead, which was postponed from last year.
