Established in 1875, the Halifax Art Society provides a meeting place for artists around Halifax to share ideas and techniques with each other.

We meet most Thursday evenings and alternate between demonstrations by guest artists and practical working sessions. Guests are welcome to join us for our demonstration evenings but practical sessions are for members only.

The Society also has working sessions on alternate Friday afternoons which have suggested subjects, but are predominantly to allow those of our members who do not want to go out after dark to still meet up with friends with similar interests.
